Flying Day 7

Well, with this weekend of not being home, I am on day 7 of the Fly Lady's baby-steps. My house is more organized(no where near where it should be, but I am working on it,right?), I have more time as if there were ever enough time in a day, and my stress level is down! I love it!

Garage Sale update

We did really well at our garage sale this weekend! We made $192.50. Which is pretty good, not what I wanted, but it pays the bills, right?

After we shut the sale down, we still had 9 big boxes and 6 regular boxes of yard sale leftovers. I have posted them on craigslist, as recommended by a friend who does this every time she has a yard sale. Unfortunately, no calls so far, but hopefully by the morning!

Garage Sale

We kept a kiddie pool set up where we cold keep Kaden entertained and still sell a bunch!
We are having our internet shut off for a couple of weeks while we move(to save money)... I will be using my parents internet when I can, so keep checking back. When we get the internet back on I will be sure to update.

Semi-productive day

Today we did not get to do as much as I would like to have done! We went and looked at a house to rent/buy. We can get a loan because of poor credit, but we can rent this beautiful house while we improve our credit. It is a perfect match for us! So fingers crossed that we get it!!!

My parents are bringing their truck to help me get my yard sale stuff over there. I hope we make a ton of money because...we need it! I have over 15 Rubbermaid tubs and 20 boxes of stuff to sale so... I hope it works!

Not cooking dinner tonight. We will eat at mom's and David can have leftover BBQ chicken and potatoes and onions.

I made sure to clean the kitchen and living room before we left for the night.

Make Dinner Time With a Toddler Easier

Tonight I thought I would do something other than fight with Kaden's need for attention and the dinner in the electric skillet, I let him pretend to cook dinner and do dishes with me. While I was prepping the potatoes for dinner, I filled the sink 1/4 a way up with water and gave him: a measuring spoon, a measuring cup, a plastic cup and a rubber spatula. He loved playing with the water. I laid down the rule before he was allowed to play: all the water had to stay in the sink. I got this idea from another blog, but I don't remember which one(oops!). Then while I was cooking I put him on a chair and gave him: a sauce pan, a metal whisk, a ladle, some of his spoons and two hot pads. He pretended to make soup! I asked him what he was going to put in it...he said "apples!" So cute.
Here are some pics, I couldn't resist sharing:

Tonight's Dinner

Tonight's dinner was potatoes and onions. It cost me about $1.03 to make this. My grandparents' neighbor is always bringing us some veggies. God bless him! It truly helps us with our budget to get these random gifts! This week we got about 10 pounds of potatoes and a bushel of bananas(Kaden's favorite snack. This week cereal is his favorite food so we have been adding bananas to his Special K. Now how healthy is that?). It turned out well! I am so excited this was my first time successfully making it.

We have enough for leftovers. Leftovers are great since we are eating out of our pantry!

Here we go...

So I am really working hard on trying to keep DH happy by keeping the house clean. Thanks to the FLY lady it is becoming a lot easier. I have been taking her baby-steps. I am on day 4 and my house already looks a ton better! It's great! I am really happy about it too. Kaden has more room to play and feeling overwhelmed by clutter is nonexistent anymore. Part of the non-cluttered house is because most of our stuff is in boxes in the closet. We are in the process of moving and I tell you, it is a tiring job to organize and pack. I think I may have figured a good system out though. If it works, I will do a series on it later.

Today: I am starting the routine of picking up toys and straightening the living room and kitchen while Kaden is napping. It is nice to not have those little hands getting everything I just put up back out!
I also am swifering the landing and the kitchen during nap time. A clean floor makes the house look super nice!
